Wanda A. Ferrell

Wanda Ann Ferrell, born on February 17th 1939 in Cannelton West Virginia. She was the 6th of 13 children. She left this life for heaven on 6/19/2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Iva Cardui Huddleston Stewart and Joesph Stewart, her first husband Richard Donald Ferrell, her second husband Louie Patton and two sons, Chucky Micheal Ferrell and Richard Donald Ferrell JR. Six brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death. Wanda is survived by her husband Franklin Ernest Ferrell, 2 sisters Sherry Horner of Versailles MO, Linda Fay Hass of Elkhart Indiana. She left behind four children, Pamela Ann Wilkins (David) Raymore Missouri, James Anthony Ferrell Versailles Missouri, Monica Dee Readenour (Roger) Jefferson City Missouri and Joseph Wesley Ferrell (Sarah) Versailles, Missouri. Wanda has 17 grandchildren, Amelia Long (Justin), Deedra Smith (Jordan), Holly Minns (Daniel), Moriah Hargiss (TJ), Bethany Duba (John), Talitha Palmer (David), Sarah Evans (Brett), Arielle Dowd (Kent), Justin Kumberg (Stacey), Richard Wilkins (Shawndae), Nathan Kumberg (Daisy), Jordan Ferrell (Crystal), Isaac Ferrell (Jessica), Eric Meadows (Rebecca), Aaron Ferrell (Tasha), Adam Ferrell (Katie), and Caleb Ferrell (Harley). Through her marriage to Louie Patton, Wanda was blessed with numerous children whom she loved as her own. Nine children, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. Wanda was a member of the United Pentecostal Church where she attended faithfully until her death. In 1972 she was filled with the Holy Spirit. From that day forward she has lived her faith and trusted God to direct her life. All of her adult life she worked. Her first job was at the soda counter at Murphy’s in Montgomery West Virginia. She said she made a dime and hour and was happy to have it. The rest of her working career was spent working in factories. She worked for Zenith, Morton Salt and Motorola. After the move to Missouri in 1978 she worked for Fasco. She retired from there and lived out her days doing what she loved, working in the tea room and winning souls to Christ. Mom did not have an easy life. Her childhood was wrought with poverty and abuse. As the years went by more and more stories emerged about just how awful her childhood was. But she overcame. She lifted herself out of that life and moved to Chicago where with the help of extended family she raised her six children. Wanda is known as prayer warrior. Anytime you would ask her to pray for you, you would not have to wait and wonder if she did it or not. You would get your prayer right then right there no holds barred. Mom loved to sing. She started singing with her sibling years and years ago. We always knew when the Stewarts got together there would be a lot of singing, laughing and eating. She loved children. She had several very special friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Wanda touched so many people’s lives and most she considered extended family. I have no idea how many adopted brothers and sisters I have but I do know that Dan and Cindy Sinclair and Joe Freeman were her adopted children. There were years that she spent with Sister Evelyn Reed making quilts and sledding in the snow. She loved to cook and do puzzles with Betty Arnold. She and Betty Cobel spent days keeping track of everyone. And she loved Sister Barb and Sister Mary Hamlet dearly. Although during mom’s final years her body betrayed her with Parkinson’s disease her heart remained true to her Heavenly Father. We all know that today she is free and reunited with the ones she loved that have gone on before her. No more pain and no more sorrow. We will miss you mama! Until we meet again! Visitation services will be held on June 24, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on June 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., all at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles with Bother Curtis Owens officiating. Internment will follow at the Versailles Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral of Versailles..
