Sue Cantwell

SUE CANTWELL Naomi Sue Cantwell, age 86, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at her home. She was born May 10, 1938 in Picher, Oklahoma, a daughter of Roy Eugene and Dorothy Lee (VanBebber) Clark. On September 3, 1955 in Platte County, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Dennis “Jim” Cantwell. Together they shared sixty-four years of marriage before his passing on July 21, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Matthew Wayne Cantwell; a great-grandson, “Lil” Robert Winters, III; her brothers, Leroy Clark, Kenyon Clark, Robert Dearinger, Billy Wayne Welch and one other brother, Richard. Survivors include her children, Mark Cantwell and Marilyn Richardson of Versailles, MO and Michelle Schouten and husband Bob of Versailles, MO; a daughter-in-law, Donna Snider and husband Bob of Marshall, MO; two sisters, Peggy Van Gordon Burgess and husband of Peculiar, MO and Carolyn Posey and husband; nine grandchildren, Crystal Menning and husband John of Stover, MO, Samantha Espinales and husband Jairo of Columbia, MO, James Cantwell and wife Andrea of Macks Creek, MO, Phillip Cantwell of Columbia, MO, Dakota Cantwell of Marshall, MO, Kari Hatfield and husband Joseph of Marshall, MO, Becca Jeffries and husband Jed of St. Peters, MO, Taylor Lang and husband Loren of Versailles, MO and Hannah Schouten of Versailles, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew Winters of Versailles, MO, Austin Menning and Alyson Menning both of Stover, MO, Ethan Espinales of Columbia, MO, Taylor Cantwell and Ryder Cantwell both of Macks Creek, MO, Bailey Jeffries, Jayla Jeffries and Aryn Jeffries all of St. Peters, MO and Kai Lang and Isaiah Lang both of Versailles, MO. Sue lived in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Versailles, Missouri in 1975. She worked for Fasco Industries for many years and retired in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling when she could. She made many beautiful afghans and quilts. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Versailles Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.kidwellgarber.com.
