Robert "Bobby" William Gares

ROBERT “BOBBY” WILLIAM GARES Robert “Bobby” William Gares, age 75, of Versailles, Missouri, formerly of Newport News, passed away Friday morning, August 5, 2005, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born December 24, 1929, the son of Robert Anthony and Helen Beatrice Blackwell Gares. He was united in marriage on May 2, 1981, in Newport News, Virginia, with Sarah Hutchison Barrows who survives of the home. When Bobby lived in Newport News, Virginia, he worked at Bowtich Ford and Coliseum Lincoln Mercury. He loved playing cards, going to casinos and traveling. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Kenneth Gares of Hampton, VA, Alan Gares of Newport News, VA, and David Gares of the state of AR; one step-son, Gary Barrows of Williamsburg, VA; two daughters, Marilyn Bean and husband Jerry of Hampton, VA, and Gloria Myers and husband Charlie of Surveyor, WV; three step-daughters, Paula Campbell and husband Charles of Harvey, LA, Linda Hotinger and husband Ronald of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jean Ann Turner and husband Albert of Gurnee, IL; eight grandchildren, Jeffery Gares of Newport News, VA, Caitlyn Myers and Patrick Hedgecock both of Surveyor, WV, Walter Franklin Hedgecock III of the state of WV, Connie Rochelle of the state of VA, Matthew Turner and Elizabeth Turner of Gurnee, IL, and Jennifer Campbell of Harvey LA; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Rochelle Ray of Newport News, VA; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Robert Henry Gares, and one brother Wesley Gares. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with full military honors at the funeral home following the service provided by the American Legion Zack Wheat Post #624 of Sunrise Beach. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 7, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens in Hampton, Virginia.
