Pamela Joy Hancock

Pamela Joy Hancock, age 66, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born January 2, 1958, in Versailles, daughter of the late Kenneth Dale and Vera Ruth (Bland) McGinnis. Pam met the love of her life, Ed Hancock at the tender age of fifteen. Three months later they married on July 28, 1973, where she embraced her role as a devoted wife and soon after, a loving mother to her two children, Brandy and Dustin. She had a passion for creativity. Whether it was crafting intricate projects or working her magic with a pair of scissors and a comb, Pam had a gift for turning the ordinary into something beautiful. She loved doing hair and it was more than just a profession to her, it was a way to bring joy to others and make them feel good about themselves. She had a way of making every person who sat in her chair feel special and she built lifelong friendships with those whose hair she styled. Pam had a vibrant spirit and zest for life. She was an old hippie at heart, someone who cherished freedom, peace and the joy of simple pleasures. She found her tribe in the Vantasia Van Club, where she loved to hit the road with fellow enthusiasts, exploring new places, sharing stories and embracing the adventure of each trip. Nothing could compare to the love she had for her grandchildren, Dakota, Kaitlin, Della and Braxton. They were her world and she cherished every moment she spent with them. She was the kind of grandmother who made each grandchild feel like they were the most important person in her life and they adored her for it. Pam touched the lives of everyone she met and will leave a legacy of love and creativity. She will be remembered for her support and dedication to the Gravois Fire Department for thirty-four years. Her spirit was truly one of a kind and will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by her children, Brandy Delhotal and husband Luke of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Dustin Hancock and wife Abby of Lake Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren, Kaitlin Stockwell and husband Matthew of Jefferson City, Missouri, Dakota Blackburn and wife Sarah of Versailles, Missouri; Braxton Hancock of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Della Hancock of Lake Ozark, Missouri; her brother, Marty McGinnis and wife Judy of Versailles, Missouri; her beloved African Gray Parrot, Shango and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 4th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Nick Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In memory of Pamela's loving spirit, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gravois Firefighters Association. All proceeds will benefit children at Cardinal Glennon who are bravely battling cancer, brain tumors, and epilepsy—causes that were significant to Pamela and closely tied to her grandchildren's medical conditions. Your contribution will provide essential support to these courageous young fighters in a way that would have meant the world to Pamela.
