Mary Sager

MARY SAGER It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Sager, age 96, of Versailles, Missouri, on Friday, February 23, 2024 after a sudden health event. Mary was born November 16, 1927 in Steubenville, Ohio. Her parents were Nathan and Mary Fellows. She was a housewife, amazing mother and friend. She was a factory worker, making bombs during World War II in her youth and later making covers at AMEX in Versailles. She is survived by her children, Sally Hunter, Shirley Sumner (Denzil), Sharon Williams (George), Mark Daniels (Lynda) and Nancy Upham (Wayne). She also leaves a brother, James Fellows (Carol); two step-children, Kathy Sippo (Art) and Mike Sager; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, John Sager; son, Roger Joseph “Joe” Gamron; sisters, Bonnie Gombar and Joan Roscoe; brother, Nathan Fellows; grandson, Brandon Daniels and a step-grandson, Sean Sippo. Mary had a zest for life. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a radiant smile. She had an immense passion for her family. She loved music, dancing, cooking and baking, playing cards, fashion, shopping, growing flowers and feeding “her birds”. She enjoyed many years of RVing with her husband, John, across the United States. She loved a good bargain. She could often be found watching episodes of “Gunsmoke” and “The Rifleman”. Mary, also known in her CB radio days as “Green-Eyed Gypsy”, had a wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to her faith. She exceeded the limits of what one might expect a ninety-six-year-old to be able to do. Mary’s departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her wide network of community. She had an amazing and full life. She was ninety-six years old, but oh so young in spirit. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness in Mary’s memory or the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Versailles Cemetery Association or Food for Morgan County. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
