Jerry Dale Adams

Jerry Dale Adams, age 68, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010, after a very courageous battle with an unexpected illness. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, and for 25 years, was the host of Jerry Adams Outdoors, where he was watched and adored by many. His passion for fishing and hunting kept friends and fans entertained weekly on television and radio. His love for southern gospel music was also showcased as he was the lead singer for the Ozarkians Quartet for over 15 years. Jerry never knew a stranger, and everyone who met him was glad to call him a friend. He also adored his grandchildren and would frequently attend their sporting events as he cheered them on. Jerry is survived by his two sons, Michael Dale Adams and wife Denise of Pflugerville, Texas and Brett Allen Adams and wife Rene of Ozark, Missouri; their mother, Karen Kay Adams of Springfield, Missouri; his brother, Donald R. Smith and wife Dianne of College Station, Texas; and five grandchildren, Auston Dale Adams of Ozark, Missouri, Chase Christopher Adams and Shay Elizabeth Adams both of Pflugerville, Texas, and Kyler James Prisk and Elijah Edward Spartan both of Ozark, Missouri. He is also survived by his fiancé, Ronna Higgins of Versailles, Missouri; her children, Nadene Lepley and husband Travis and family, Gary Higgins and wife Susan and family, Jeff Higgins and wife Charise and family, Erin Thompson and husband Mike, and Matt Higgins. Jerry is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Jean Bridges and husband Jim of Jacksonville, Arkansas; a brother, Robert William Adams and wife Debbie of Indiana; his step-father, Duane Davis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews in addition to a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Mae Davis, his father, Jesse W. “Bill” Adams, his step-mother, Eula Lee Adams, and his sister, Sharon Berneda LeGrand. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15, at the Lake Ozark Christian Church, 1560 Bagnell Dam Blvd., Lake Ozark, MO 65049. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jerry Adams Outdoors “Take a kid fishing” Program in care of KMOS TV, Wood #11, Warrensburg, Missouri 64093.
