Gay Adele Zurbuchen

Gay Zurbuchen, age 55, of Sunrise Beach, MO, departed this life on Friday, December 24, 2010, while at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 30, at the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church on Highway 5 in Sunrise Beach, MO. The memorial service will follow immediately at 11:00a.m. The family would prefer in lieu of flowers that donations in memory of Gay be made to the Community for Christ, c/o Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 155, Sunrise Beach, Mo 65079. Gay was born October 3, 1955, in Kansas City, MO. She will be greatly missed by: her mother, Jeri Hunter and step-father William Hunter of Sunrise Beach; brother, Bruce Zurbuchen of Los Gatos, CA; step-brother, Bill Hunter of Sunrise Beach; step-sisters, Sandra Sloan of Lake St. Louis, MO and Holly Wehner and husband Kevin of Oak Grove, MO; step-mother, Freeda Mathias and husband Richard of Independence, MO; half-brothers, Brian Zurbuchen and wife Ying of Lee’s Summit, MO and Mark Zurbuchen of Santa Monica, CA; half-sister, Holly McNickle and husband Will of Shawnee, KS; aunt, Lou Zurbuchen of Gower, MO; uncle, Bob Zurbuchen of Kansas, City, MO; uncle, Norman Batcheller of Kansas City, MO; uncle, Paul Batcheller, Jr. and wife Pat of Gladstone, MO; uncle, Richard Batcheller and wife Yvonne of Santa Rosa, CA; aunt, Marilyn Batcheller of Forrestville, CA; and 18 first cousins. Her father, Donald Zurbuchen of Kansas City, MO, preceded her in death. Gay was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force for four years serving as an Aviation Mechanic for the newly developed F-15 fighter jet. She was recognized and honored as being the first female to ride in the F-15. She has resided in the Lake area for the past 26 years where she applied her artistic talents as a graphic design artist and sign painter. She had established a broad client base within the commercial, industrial and advertising industry locally and throughout the country in areas such as Kansas City, San Diego and Vancouver. In keeping with her wishes, she has been cremated, and private entombment will be held at a later date in the columbarium at the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church. The family would like to express deep heartfelt thanks to all friends and family that have aided us in this difficult time with there loving support.
