Cecil P. Tremblay

Cecil P. Tremblay, 95, of Sparta, WI died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born on May 26, 1916 in Holcombe, WI to Alexander and Magdalene (Russel) Tremblay. Cecil grew up in Ladysmith, WI and graduated from Ladysmith High School. He went to work at the regional creamery and dairy plant in Ladysmith and also owned and worked on his family farm. He married Veronica Ann McGlone on August 4, 1943 in Ladysmith. They lived in Ladysmith, started and operated an excavation business and later built and operated a small country store and fishing camp. He then bought and ran a Ford dealership in Cornell. He eventually sold the dealership and farmed again in Bloomer, WI. He also worked at Presto Ammunition Plant in Eau Claire, WI. He retired in 1975, then moved to Missouri and started CSP Construction. He moved back to Wisconsin in 2007. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Brotherhood of Elks. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and taxidermy. He appreciated and respected all of nature. Cecil is survived by his children, Phillip Tremblay of Gravois Mills, MO, Thomas (Joan) Tremblay of Bloomer, WI, Eugene (Sue) Tremblay of Eau Claire, WI, James (Marian) Tremblay of Sparta, WI, Patricia (Don) Ruff of Boyd, WI, Bernice Abrahamson of Sparta, WI, Shirley Hanson of San Antonio, TX, Mary (Scott) Gremminger of Sunrise Beach, MO, and Peter (Kim) Tremblay of Katy, TX; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, John Tremblay of Chicago and sister, Sr. Mary Eugenia Tremblay of Wheeling, IL; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Veronica; daughter, Eileen; son, Robert; two brothers, Fr. Russel Tremblay and Fr. Eugene Tremblay; two sisters, Luella Tremblay and Sr. Mary Celestine Tremblay. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 13, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, WI, with Father John S. Manohar officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 16, in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Laurie, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Monday, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Memorials may be given to Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel and the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home of Sparta.
