William Wallace Glick

May 30, 1924 - August 8, 2020

William Wallace "Bill" Glick passed away Saturday August 8, 2020. Bill was born May 30, 1924 to Wallace and Bessie Glick in Breckenridge, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Joyce Alma Watkins on November 26, 1943 in Covington, Kentucky. They enjoyed every minute of their sixty-nine years of marriage. Bill served in World War II as a navigator in the Army Air Corps as a first lieutenant. He worked in air transport over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. After the war he was a captain in the Texas National Guard. A highlight of his later life was going on the Honor Flight to Washington DC. He was a member of the Zack Wheat American Legion Honor Guard into his 90's. Bill was a long-time lake area businessman. He operated Millstone Lodge from 1961 to 1973. He and his wife, Joyce and their family have owned Rock Harbor Resort in Sunrise Beach since 1973. Bill was president of the Lake Association in 1979 and a founding member of the Tri-County Lodging Association. Bill loved to dance. He and Joyce enjoyed big band dances. After her death, Bill found a new group of friends at the Camdenton VFW senior dances. He had a tremendous joy for living. Bill is survived by his four children, Rebecca Collins, Kathleen Fayant, Cecelia Mooney, and William Wallace "Wally" Glick; his grandchildren, David, Joyce, William, and Jed Lindecamp, Elizabeth and Robert Fayant, Alison Wade, Aaron Mooney, Melissa Owsley and Jessica Mooney, William Wallace "Will" Glick III and Norah Glick; twenty great-grandchildren with two great-great-grandchildren on the way. Besides his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Garber Memorial Estates, Laurie, Missouri. Memorials can be made to the American Honor Flight. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
