Tabitha Swab Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

TABITHA SWAB Tabitha Catherine Swab, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 in her home. She was born November 19, 1936 in Everett, Washington, a daughter of Ballard Matthew and Aloysia Lucille (Juneau) Kesner. On July 21, 1956, at the Visitation Church in Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Raymond “Jim” Swab. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage before his passing on August 19, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Matthew Kesner. Survivors include her sons, Stephen M. Swab and wife Susan of Olathe, Kansas, James G. Swab and wife Lisa of Beebe, Arkansas and Joseph A. Swab of Warrensburg, Missouri; daughters, Theresa C. Hiemenz and husband Paul of Mission Hills, Kansas and Andrea L. Bogert and husband David of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Jacqueline, Joseph, Jr., Haris, Samuel and Grace; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Tabitha was raised in Tecumseh, Missouri and was a graduate of Gainesville High School. She moved to Kansas City to work for Westinghouse and while there met and married Jim. They made their home in Kansas City where she was a homemaker, worked as a bookkeeper at Twin Oaks on the Plaza and later was an activities director at two different retirement communities. They moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1981 where she spent many years as an activities director for Laurie Care Center. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church while at the lake and was able to receive sacraments at her home in Kansas City as her health declined. She loved and cherished her family and friends. She welcomed anyone into her home and had a way of making you feel special. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Graveside services and interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. A Rosary will begin at 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the church, with a visitation to follow until the start of the service. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church in lieu of flowers. The family kindly requests that loved ones make a kind gesture in her honor. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
