Sheral Eugene Simms – better known as Simmy by those close to him – of Climax Springs, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was born on April 19, 1938, in Higbee, Missouri to Leonard and Hollene Simms. He was a man of many talents and accomplished a lot in his life. He served as the mayor of Higbee, owned a grocery store and gas station, worked in the automotive field, and ultimately retired from DuPont. He was a 3rd generation 3rd degree Mason. He was part of the Higbee AF&AM lodge and served as the Grand Master. Simmy loved to garden, starting as a young man helping with the large family garden, and continuing with gardening throughout his life. He was well known for his Early Girl tomatoes, and family and friends said that no one could grow tomatoes like Simmy. His true passion, however, was music. He started playing the guitar as a teenager and his love of music grew from there. He was a talented guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist. He also wrote music and lyrics. He played countless events throughout his life but enjoyed playing music for his friends and family most. His music had a way of bringing everyone together. Some of his favorite musicians were Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and Randy Travis. Along with his love of music, Simmy also loved his family immensely. He married Linda Ferrero on June 27, 1965. He became a father to Julie Simms on July 3, 1967. He had three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He also had several Dachshunds that followed him wherever he went. Simmy was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Simms; his mother Hollene Simms; his sister, Sharon Kay Palmatory (Simms); and his nephew, Kevin Palmatory. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Simms; his daughter, Julie Simms; his three grandchildren, Laura Rife, Lindsey Rife, and Leah Rife; his two great grandchildren Emmalin Rife and Peyton Rife. He also left behind nieces and nephews and numerous friends and fellow musicians. There are no services planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Kidwell Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
