MIKE TEEL Michael A. Teel, age 74, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 4, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, son of the late Austin and Marianne (Signorelli) Teel. On February 11, 1978, in San Luis Obispo, California, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Debra (Gifford) Teel. Together they shared forty-four years of marriage. He was raised in California and worked for Southern California Edison company for twenty-five years. During his years in California, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War period, was a member of the United States Power Squadron, Lucerne Valley Search and Rescue Squadron, and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He retired to Lake of the Ozarks in 2002. Following his retirement, he obtained his Coast Guard U.S. Merchant Marine Officer license and fulfilled his love of boats by captaining both the Celebration and Tom Sawyer vessels over a period of ten years. His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment he spent with them. His favorite hobbies included boating, trap and skeet shooting, camping, fishing and computer gaming. He developed an interest in genealogy and spent many hours building and maintaining an online ancestry database. He leaves behind his wife, Debra Teel; daughter, Laura Mulvaney of Apple Valley, California; two grandchildren, Ashley Hernandez and husband Eddie and Jared Casanta and wife Brianna; six great-grandchildren; sister, Polly Kmetz and husband Larry; brother, Frank Teel and wife Mary; sister-in-law, Anita Teel; brother, Tim Teel; sister, Cris McMann and husband John; brother, Bob Teel as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Teel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie, Missouri with military honors following the Mass. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the church. Any donations given in memory of Mike will be passed on to Lake Regional Hospice as a thanks for their tremendous support and care, and to the Lake of the Ozarks Idiot Club to aid in their support of the youth in-need around the lake area. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
