Marzell McDonald

January 30, 1925 - May 25, 2018

MARZELL McDONALD Ola Marzell McDonald, daughter of Edward Mayberry and Nora Eddard (Popejoy) King was born January 30, 1925 in Marshfield, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, May 25, 2018 in Webco Manor, Marshfield at the age of ninety-three. On December 31, 1943, she was united in marriage to Merril Karl McDonald. Together they shared fifty-nine years of marriage until his passing on March 7, 2003. She was a graduate of Elkland High School and was a life-long resident of Webster County. She was a dedicated and hard worker who retired from Welch Manufacturing. She was well-known as a local crafter who attended many local craft fairs and hosted an annual open house. She was recognized as being the longest continuous vendor at the Heritage Reunion in Fair Grove. Many have the pleasure of owning a sock monkey or pillow case doll made by Marzell. Her love of the Lord was evident in her daily life. She was a faithful member of Haymes Chapel United Methodist Church and never missed a day of reading her Bible. Marzell loved her family and enjoyed nothing more than visits with them. She looked forward to family gatherings where there was always lots of food and laughter. Every visit ended with a hug and a kiss and a sweet, “I love you”. Survivors include her five daughters, Kaye Mason and husband David of Marshfield, Barbara Diehl of Elkland, Becky Mallard of Marshfield, Sandy Ray and husband Jim of Marshfield and Carol Dunn of Marshfield; thirteen grandchildren, Michael Diehl, Sally Willis, Michele Bailey, Wesley Diehl, Jeff Huff, John Mason, Roy Diehl, Jamie Clark, Jayson Mallard, Riley Ray, Nicholas Dunn, Gretchen Crawford and Nathan Dunn; thirty-two great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jo Helen Compton of Chandler, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Geraldine King of Springfield, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sarah Sue McDonald; a grandson, Mark Mason and her siblings, Johnny King, Donnel King, Sarah Ann Cunningham, Russell King and Polly Harden. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will follow in Mission Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Webster County Food Pantry or Mission Home Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles and Fraker Funeral Home of Marshfield.
