Mary Slinkerd

March 25, 1924 - November 22, 2019

Mary Irene Slinkerd, age 95, of Troy, Missouri, formerly of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at The Arbors at Sugar Creek in Troy, Missouri. She was born, March 25, 1924 in Moundsville, Missouri, a daughter of Charles Hughes and Jessie Mae (Tetrick) Roseberry. On June 5, 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Robert Thomas Slinkerd. Together they shared thirty years of marriage before his passing on November 18, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Wilson and James Elkins and four sisters, Peggy Vaccara, Louise Doyle, Martha Roseberry and Rosalie Stout. Survivors include her children, Dale Lindsey and wife Judy of Troy, Missouri, Ronald Lindsey and wife Jennifer of McMinnville, Tennessee, Dennis Slinkerd and wife Charleen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Diane Slinkerd of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Ann Cobb and husband Dennis and Patti Gurrola and husband Lionel all of Salt Lake City, Utah; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mary lived most of her life in the St. Joseph, Missouri area. After she and Bob were married, they made their home in Raytown, Missouri and later moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. After his passing, she retired to Troy, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and shopping. One of her greatest joys in her later years was taking a yearly Harley Davidson motorcycle ride with a group who took widows from her church. She was proud to be able to ride with them for the past four years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy and formerly a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Versailles. Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles. Burial will follow at Versailles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Citizens Against Domestic Violence. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
