Marlene Wormsley

October 1, 1942 - April 27, 2022

MARLENE K. WORMSLEY Marlene Karon Wormsley was born October 1, 1942, the youngest child of Joseph H. Tebbe and Ruby Bell (Snyder) Tebbe in Kansas City, Kansas. She entered into eternal rest April 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Don Wormsley of the home; her sister, Jeannine Piper of Kansas City, Missouri; her sons, Randy (Becky) Wormsley of Raymore, Missouri and Troy (Kristy) Wormsley of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; her grandchildren, Kaylin (Jacob) Blankenship of Grandview, Missouri, Anthony (Candace) Pardee of Springfield, Missouri, Bailey Pardee of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Jacob Wormsley of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William “Billy” Tebbe; her sister, Eileen Puhr and her grandson, Nicholas Pardee. Marlene was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School in Kansas City Kansas. She was introduced to the love of her life, Don, by her sister and brother-in-law in August of 1957. Don and Marlene were united in marriage on April 1, 1961. Just a couple of fools! Marlene and Don spent many years working together and traveling the country in the drag racing business with the American Hot Rod Association. She retired from New York Life Insurance after thirty-three years of employment in April of 2008 and they moved to their lake house permanently in July of that year. Marlene loved the lake life and enjoyed boating and riding her wave runner. She had a love of nature, especially animals. She had many pets over the years which she loved and spoiled. Marlene had a true love of cars. In her teenage years, she was a member of the Dragettes, the first all-female car club in Kansas City. Her love of cars continued over the years and her and Don were active members of the Lake of the Ozarks Corvette Club and the Fun Runners Car Club where they frequently attended car shows to show their Corvette and her favorite, her 1957 Chevy. Marlene’s greatest passion in life was her family. She was a wonderful life long partner to her husband, Don. Together they shared sixty-one happy years of marriage. She was a loving and caring mother to her sons and grandchildren. She possessed a fun playful spirit and was always up for playing Hot Wheels, Thomas the Train, Fashion Polly or making snow angels in the snow. Marlene had a wonderful life and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Laurie, Missouri. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
