Mark Andrew Buckner, age 64, of Versailles, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020, at his home. He was born November 5, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Franklin Delano and Shirley Ann (Fagan) Buckner. On November 7, 1977, in Austin, Texas, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Karol (Ackerman) Buckner. Mark retired from the United States Navy after serving twenty years. He worked for the Missouri Prison System for fifteen years. Most recently, he was a school bus driver for Morgan County R-II Schools for five years until he was no longer able due to his health. Mark spent time as an electrician, plumber and working in construction. He enjoyed fishing and building classic cars. In addition to his wife Karol, he is survived by his sons, Ross D. Buckner of Oak Harbor, Washington, Franklin J. Buckner of Auburn, Washington, Mark A. Buckner of Versailles, Missouri and Steven A. Buckner of Eldon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Shirley A. Buckner of Laurie; brother, Craig A. Buckner of Laurie, Missouri; sister, Karri A. Neal and husband Bobbie of Versailles, Missouri and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Delano Buckner. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
