Margaret Ann (Kowalski) Kearns, 72, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. Margaret was born October 10, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Michael and Mary (Kozlowski) Kowalski. Margaret was united in marriage to Patrick W. Kearns on Saturday, April 25, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kowalski; her father, Michael Kowalski and three sisters, Mary Marcella Neise, Marie Antoinette “Toni” Wilson and Joan Martha “Joni” Holt. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Patrick W. Kearns; three loving sons, Patrick W. Kearns, Jr. and wife Melanie, Michael W. Kearns and wife Genea and Daniel B. Kearns; four grandsons, Patrick W. Kearns, III, Aaron Pope, Michael Ashmead and Ethan Campbell; six granddaughters, Krista Kearns, Oliva Kearns, Cecilia Kearns, Emily Kearns, Ame’ Gibler and Lindsey Johnston; one great-granddaughter, Dayna Gibler and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret enjoyed traveling, bird watching and growing flowers. She was safety committee chairman at the Progress South Grade School for several years. She also substituted when the school nurse could not be at the school. She was very active in scouting, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother and on the Cub and Boy Scout Committees. After moving to Gravois Mills, Missouri in 1996, Margaret, her husband, Patrick, and her sister, Joni purchased Buster’s Bait and Tackle Shop in Laurie, Missouri. She served as the General Manager for eighteen years before retiring. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services and inurnment will follow in Garber Memorial Estates in Laurie. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held in St. Leo’s Hall at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 176 Marian Drive, Laurie, Missouri 65037 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
