LORAINE DAWDY Loraine Henrietta Dawdy, age 76, of Gravois Mills, Missouri passed away on Friday morning, June 14, 2019 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri, surrounded by her family. Loraine was born on November 29, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Harry Herman Adrian and Teresa Lorraine (DeBroeck) Adrian. On June 9, 1962 Loraine was united in marriage to Harold Ermin “Joe” Dawdy, who preceeded her in death on August 4, 2015. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. Loraine was an unconditionally loving mother and wife, a business partner, and an active participant in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was a strong woman who possessed a diligent work ethic and a kind, supportive heart. In the mid-70’s, Loraine co-founded Expressway Rentals, an equipment rental company in Jefferson City, along with her husband, Joe and her sister, Theresa and Theresa’s husband, Richard Tanner. Loraine was a co-owner/operator of Expressway Rentals for some 20 years, before “retiring”. In 1998 Joe and Loraine moved to Laurie to live on the Lake of the Ozarks, a longtime dream of hers. Not one to sit still, she subsequently co-founded All That Jazz, a party supply store in Camdenton with her sister, Theresa. Loraine continued working until the time of her passing, most recently as a pharmacy tech in Laurie. She was a member of the Jefferson City Jaycees, the Immaculata Club, Jefferson City Card Club and a long-time member of Immaculate Conception church in Jefferson City and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Teresa Adrian, her twin sister, Louise Kempker and her son in law David McKinney. She is survived by two sons, Jeff Dawdy (Susan Neill-Dawdy) of Jefferson City and Jay Dawdy (Grace Yang) of New York, New York; two daughters, Jennifer McKinney (David) of Folk and Julie Wittkop (John) of Burlington, Iowa; along with five grandchildren: Fallon McKinney, Arran McKinney, Kelsey Smith, Jake Wittkop and Kamryn Wittkop and two great-grandchildren: Alexis and Lincoln. She is also survived by two brothers, Harry Adrian of Ottawa, Illinois and Roger Adrian of Jefferson City as well as two sisters, Gertrude LePage of Russellville and Theresa Tanner of Sunrise Beach. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the National Shrine of Mary Mother of the Church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
