Leah June Yows

Leah June Yows, age 88, of Barnett, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born June 2, 1933, in Gravois Mills, Missouri, a daughter of Charles Everett and Chloe Lucille (Ward) McGinnis. On December 31, 1979, she was united in marriage to Don H. Yows, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2004. June retired after thirty-one years from Bell Telephone Company. She was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She also worked at Paul’s Market in Eldon, retiring after many years. June was a member of the Eldon VFW Post 2442 Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing every chance she could and crocheting lap blankets for the VFW. She was loved by many and will be missed. She is survived by her granddaughter, Dreda Patrick; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Cable and Norma Jean Fiser; several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Everett McGinnis, her mother, Chloe McGinnis Ferguson, her daughter, Deborah (Patrick) Smith, her brothers, Jimmie Don McGinnis and Charles Wayne McGinnis, two half-brothers and a half-sister. A Graveside service and inurnment will be held in the Versailles Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eldon VFW Post 2442. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
