Helen JoAnn Moulton

August 27, 1941 - May 26, 2021

Helen “JoAnn” Moulton, age 79, of Linn Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at her home surrounded by family. She was born August 27, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of Buford and Fanny Imogene (Peeler) Short. Following Imogene’s passing, Buford married Ruby Jean Diehm, who lovingly raised JoAnn as her daughter. JoAnn was a cheerleader and prom queen at Pleasant Hill High School and graduated in 1959. On July 1, 1960, in Kansas City, she was united in marriage to David Gene Moulton, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2020. Prior to his passing, they had recently celebrated sixty years of marriage. In 1974, Dave and JoAnn moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, where they owned and operated Lake Discount Center hardware store. In 1985 bought The Shoe Inn shoe store. JoAnn retired from Tan-Tar-A after 25 years of employment in the reservations. Throughout the years, she was involved in community events and organizations. JoAnn’s favorite hobbies included crocheting, cooking, and spending time with family. She crocheted baby blankets and donated them to the local hospital. She was an avid shopper who had great taste in handbags and shoes. JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Kim (Nick) Stutesman of Laurie, Missouri, and Kathy (Kurt) Adamson of Linn Creek, Missouri; grandchildren, Juli (Ian) Ward, Sara (Ben) Coen, and Jackson Adamson; great-grandchildren, Caellum and Ariella Coen and Ruby Jean Ward; her sisters, Carolyn Allen, Pam (Bob) Brinkoetter, and Sandy (Clayton) Janecky; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Don Twitchell, and nephew, Troy Brinkoetter. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29th, at Sunrise Bible Church in Sunrise Beach. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church, with Pastor Nick Stutesman officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sunrise Bible Church. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
