Gloria Vernon

January 12, 1941 - March 29, 2022

Gloria Vernon, age 81, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born January 12, 1941, in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, a daughter of the late William Henry, Jr. and Lillie Maye (Miner) Kelly. On July 12, 1959, in Walla Walla, Washington, she was united in marriage to her surviving husband, Eugene Ray Vernon. Gloria was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Versailles where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She spent many hours in bible study and prayer. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid collector of owls. Gloria loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. In addition to her husband, Gene, she is survived by her son, Steve Vernon and wife Ilene of Clovis, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Lockie Vernon of Versailles, Missouri; grandchildren, Geoff Vernon and wife Amy, Tim Vernon, Brandon Vernon and Hilary Moritz; great-grandchildren, Will, Ben, Luke, Max, Elizabella “Izzy” and Brooklynn and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Vernon, four brothers and a sister. A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8th, at the Trinity Baptist Church in Versailles with Pastor Gary Patterson officiating.
