George E. Toozer

George E. Toozer, age 77, of Versailles, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska and Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born November 15, 1940, in Belton, Nebraska. On June 23, 2008, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Zipp, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2018. George was employed at Nebraska Furniture Mart for many years and later at McIntyre Mann Carpet One. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Omaha and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. George was an avid gun collector. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and target shooting. He loved studying the Bible as well as witnessing to others about his faith in God. He is survived by his children, Franklin Cooley and wife Jane of Sedalia, Missouri, Enora Coppenbarger and husband Richard of Eminence, Missouri, Marjorie Hardey and husband Ed of Versailles, Missouri, Donna Marie Fouts and husband John of Twin Falls, Idaho and Tim Starrett of Fresno, California and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Ingram and Lucene A. (Healey) Toozer; two sons, John Cooley and Jeff Starrett and two grandsons, Eddie Carwile and Troy Cooley. A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
