DANIEL MAY Daniel May, age 83, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 23, 2019 at Laurie Care Center, Laurie Missouri. He was born January 27, 1936 in Hi Hat, Kentucky, a son of Melvin and Mazie May. Daniel was raised in Hi Hat, graduated high school, and then entered the United States Army. He entered bootcamp at Fort Knox Army Base in Fort Knox, Kentucky, then finished his time over-seas in Germany. Daniel returned to the U.S. and settled in Detroit, Michigan. He had a 20-year career working for the General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the Shiners Club and Masonic Lodge, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. After retiring, Daniel and his wife Beatrice moved to Murray, Kentucky, build their dream home, and enjoyed many years living near Kentucky Lake. Later in life, Daniel relocated to Laurie Missouri to be close to his daughter and son-in-law. Survivors include three daughters, Delona Jo May of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Denise Teen of Lincoln Park, Michigan and Deanna Costa and her husband Fred of Laurie Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Booth of Allen Park, Michigan and a host of other relatives and many friends. Daniel was preceeded in death by his wife of thirty years; parents; elder brother, William May; elder sister, Betty Jo Mitchell-Esteppn and twin brother, Samuel May. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2019 at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Dan's name via the Honor & Memorial Donations at the Wounded Warrior Project. Local arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
