Brian Kent Smith

Brian Kent Smith was born in Davenport, Iowa, on August 24, 1948, to the parents of Cletus and Alma (Kraklio) Smith. Brian grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1966. He completed the four-year A.C. Electricity apprenticeship program specializing in D.C. Power Service technician. Brian started working at Hubill Incorporated in 1966. He was the service manager and later became the Territorial Sales Manager. Brian enjoyed working with his customers and solving their problems. Many of his customers became his personal friends. Brian was fortunate to be able to hire his son, Paul washing trucks for the company at a young age. Paul began working with his father after high school as a technician. Brian retired after fifty years of employment in 2016. Brian and Rita were united in marriage on February 10, 1996. They retired to Lake of the Ozarks in 2016, where they met many of their closest friends. Brian and Rita loved to spend their time traveling in their RV, boating and riding in their side by side with friends. Brian loved hanging out on his dock with his ice cream machine, his popcorn machine and plenty of great music. Brian loved cooking for friends and family. And what a sense of humor he had. After Brian received his double lung transplant in 2021, with some major setbacks, he lost the courageous battle on September 29, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Rita; his brother, Darrell (Anita) Smith of Gilbert, Arizona; his children, Paul Smith of Davenport, Iowa, Todd (Amy) Smith of Davenport, Iowa and Krickette (Jeff) Corson of Rapids City, Illinois; grandchildren, Zachary (Amber), Kennedy, Alexis, Parker (Jordan), Alec, Kaiden and Baylor; great-grandchild, Briar; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Larry Smith and his sister, Wilma Atkinson. Brian would like to acknowledge his very close relationship with Steve and Dawn Kraklio. A special thank you to Ed and Sandy Warden for all their support. We would also like to thank all the special friends that helped take care of Brian and Rita. You know who you are. A celebration of life will be held at Tres Hombres Restaurant, 8779 Missouri Highway 5 in Greenview, Missouri on Saturday, October 5th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting any donations be made to Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter in Sunrise Beach. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
