C. William "Bill" Hunter

Bill Hunter, age 71, of Sunrise Beach, MO, departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO, of a traumatic head injury. Bill was born on October 11, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Clarence W. and Jacqueline Hunter. The family later moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where he graduated from Camdenton High School. In 1977, he was united in marriage to Jeri in Sedalia, MO, and together they shared the last 34 years. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife Jeri Lou Hunter of the home; his daughters Sandra Sloan of Lake St. Charles, MO and Holly Wehner and husband Kevin of Oak Grove, MO; his son Bill Hunter of Sunrise Beach, MO; his step-sons Gary Osborn of Nixa, MO, Bill Osborn of Belleville, IL and Bruce Zurbuchen and wife Bido of Los Gatos, CA; his uncles Dick Sanders and wife Silvia of Sunrise Beach, MO and Bill Sanders and wife Lillie of Tulsa, OK and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Clarence W. and Jacqueline Hunter, and his daughter Deann Chandler and step-daughter Gay Zurbuchen. After serving his country proudly in the United States Air Force, Bill was a successful self-employed business owner in the insurance industry for over 45 years. Additionally, he was contracted by numerous insurance companies to hire and train their sales forces. He was a charter member of the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council for many years. He was a member of the choir and performed as a soloist. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, he was elected to the Sunrise Beach City Council and served as Mayor. He was a member of the Lake West Chamber of Commerce. His hobby and passion was playing the harmonica, guitar and singing. The family would like to express deep heartfelt thanks to all friends and family that have aided us in this difficult time with their loving support. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, at the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 28 at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Entombment will be held at a later date in the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church Columbarium. The family would prefer in lieu of flowers that donations in memory of Bill be made to the Kent Memorial Building Fund, Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 155, Sunrise Beach, MO, 65079. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
