William Harold (Bill) Brown

William Harold (Bill) Brown, age 80, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Wednesday evening, March 14, 2007 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Bill was born January 19, 1927 in Warrensburg, Missouri, the son of Hickman and Laura (Burrington) Brown. He was united in marriage to Jean Parmley on February 25, 1951 in Jasper, Arkansas. They celebrated 56 years of togetherness helping each other along life’s troubled spots. Bill and Jean moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1976 after vacationing at the lake for 10 years. Bill served in the Marine Corp during World War II. He retired from Civil Service at Whiteman Air Force Base as the Water Sewage Superintendent and as Maintenance Supervisor at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He was a charter member of the Square & Compass Club at Whiteman AFB, member of the Masonic Lodge 265 in Warrensburg, the Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, and member of the First Christian Church in Warrensburg. After moving to the lake he worked as a school bus driver, delivered boats for Drake Marine and Wilbus Marine, and Millstone Lodge as the swimming pool technician. He is survived by his wife, Jean Brown of the home; three children, Donna Herman of Linn Creek, MO, Donnie Brown of Camdenton, MO, and George Brown of Laurie, MO; four grandchildren, Ryan Marr and wife Andrea, Ft. Bragg, NC, Mindy Burford and husband Keith, Lee’s Summit, MO, Matt Marr and wife Sophia, Batesville, AR, and Kim Petty and husband Brian, Little Elm, TX; 7 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; one brother Charles Brown and wife Diane, Newport News, VA; and one son from a previous marriage, Ronnie Brown of Tipton, MO. Funeral and Masonic services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Dr. Jim Sutherlin officiating. Vocal selections of “One Day At A Time” by Christy Lane and “Not Far From Where You Are” by Josh Groban will be played. Interment will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie, with military honors under the auspices of the Zack Wheat American Legion Post #624 of Sunrise Beach. Casketbearers will be Warrant Officer Ryan Marr, Staff Sargeant Matt Marr, Mendy Burford, Keith Burford, Justice Trokey and Warren Moffatt. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie.
