Rodney Dale Stafford

Rodney Dale Stafford, age 64, of Versailles, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 7, 2024. On May 31, 1960, in Versailles, he was the seventh of eight children born to the late Noah “Dice” Henderson and late Melva Lee (Morrison) Stafford. Rodney was a member of the Versailles High school graduating class of 1978, where he was part of the wrestling team. Rodney joined the United States Army on November 5, 1986 and was stationed at Fort Sill Army Base in Lawton, Oklahoma. After basic training, Rodney was deployed to Hanua, West Germany Army Airfield where he was a meteorological crew member. Rodney served his country with pride before his honorable discharge on June 26th, 1991. Some of Rodney’s greatest passions in life were family, music, food and his pets. Family was everything to Rodney. He was a constant source of support and love, especially to his nephews and nieces. Known for his generous spirit, Rodney was a best friend to those in greatest need, offering comfort and assistance during their hardest times. He was cherished by all who knew him. His love for music was a defining part of his life, bringing happiness to many. He found joy in playing with his brothers in the band “The Good Ole Boys” during his youth and as he grew older, he was often using his guitar to entertain family members with his lively but mostly silly renditions of All My Life’s A Circle and American Pie. When not singing and making people laugh, Rodney enjoyed cooking and was a self-appointed barbecue master. Rodney also had a deep affection for animals, particularly dogs, and held a special place in his heart for them. He also enjoyed watching movies and sports and rooting for his favorite football team the Denver Broncos, watching NASCAR or Wrestling. He enjoyed riding around on gravel roads with friends and family, reminiscing about the past and telling old tales. He enjoyed card games with family, and he always brought the pizza. Rodney is survived by his siblings, Mike Stafford (Dorothy), Randy Stafford (Teresa), Craig Stafford, Debra Stafford, and Darren Stafford (Lowena); his two sisters-in-law, Willa and Kathy Stafford, his nephews and nieces, Tony, Angel, Brian, Darrel, Lisa, Shauna, Jim, Doug, Andrea, Kelly Lynn, Jennifer, Travis, Noah, Christopher, Stephen Dale, and Ryan; as well as many great nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and his canine companion, Cookie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Floyd Stafford and Richard “Dick” Stafford, and his sister-in-law, Rose Stafford. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, officiated by Reverend Robert Ross. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fresh Start Animal Outreach in Eldon, reflecting Rodney’s enduring love for animals. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
