Robert J. Kleoppel

Robert J. Kleoppel, age 80, of Versailles, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007, in Versailles. He was born on January 13, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, the son of William and Elizabeth Buechter Kleoppel. On August 12, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Dye who survives of the home. Robert worked at several Chevrolet Dealerships with his most recent at Lloyd Belt in Eldon, and was co-owner and operator of Mid-City Radiator in Independence, Missouri. He was a member of the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, the Knights of Columbus, and the Rolling Hills Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, and playing cards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stan Kleoppel and wife Karen of Independence, Missouri, Dan Kleoppel of Omaha, Nebraska, and Don Kleoppel and wife Jeanette of Bonner Springs, Kansas; six daughters, Donna Voss and husband Don of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Joyce Lightner and husband Denny of Sedalia, Missouri, Jeannette Braden and husband Terry of Raymore, Missouri, Judy Stiek and husband Gene of Marshall, Missouri, Tammy Johnston and husband Don of Olathe, Kansas, and Grace Kindrick and husband Joe of Sedalia, Missouri; one step-son, David Brock and companion Jenny of Norborne, Missouri; two step-daughters, Donna Bates of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Kathy Burdick of Chandler, Arizona; twenty-four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Kleoppel and wife Betty of Independence, Missouri, Jim Kleoppel and wife Shirley of Springfield, Missouri, and Ben Kleoppel and wife Wilma of Warrensburg, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jana Steik. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, at the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles with Father C.D. “Bo” Ryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery.
