Mary Etta Jenkins

Mary Etta (Goddard) Jenkins entered Heavens gates on August 10, 2021 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri. She was born July 22,1928 in Glensted, Missouri, the daughter of Earl A. Goddard and Marie (Meuschke) Goddard. She would be joined in marriage to Lewis E. Jenkins on October 2,1948. From that marriage three children were raised, Linda Niver, Charles Jenkins and Mary Ann Giocondi. Mary Etta and Lewis spent their lives in Versailles, Missouri and both worked for the optical plant that was located in town. Mary Etta later retired from the plant when it was moved to Eldon, Missouri. Mary Etta was a very active member of the Versailles Christian Church. For many years, she sang in the church choir and in her younger years, taught children’s Sunday school. She was known to make the best pies and often, attendees at church dinners went for her baked items before going through main line. She was a care giver and had a heart for serving others. You could always smell the wonderful aroma of her pies or cakes baking for others in need. Mary Etta was faithful in visiting residents in the nursing homes. For years, while her mom was a resident there, she would visit daily to take care of her. For many years she volunteered at the nursing home, helping with Bingo one day a week. Mary Etta will be most remembered for her faith in God. She was such a strong person guiding her family through many difficult times by her strong faith in God. She was such a wonderful servant of God. It would be impossible to remember a time when she ever said a bad thing about anyone. She always saw the good in everyone. Mary Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Jenkins; her parents, Earl Goddard and Marie Goddard; a daughter, Mary Ann Giocondi of Warsaw, Missouri; her brother, Frank Goddard of Arvada, Colorado; her sister, Florence Scott of Puyallup, Washington and a grandson, David Niver of Topeka, Kansas. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Niver and her husband Russ of Topeka, Kansas; a son, Charles Jenkins and his dog, Rambo of Versailles, Missouri; grandchildren, Elizabeth Godden and husband Danny of Blue Springs, Missouri, Jill Rosbrugh and husband Ian of Kansas City, Missouri, Laura Niver of Washington D.C. and Gregory Niver and wife Abbey of Arvada, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Rylee Godden of Blue Springs, Missouri, Reagan Godden of Blue Springs, Missouri, Caleb Rosbrugh of Kansas City, Missouri, Ryan Rosbrugh of Kansas City, Missouri, Teagan Niver of Arvada, Colorado and Luke Niver of Arvada, Colorado and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Versailles Cemetery, West Lawn addition with Rev. Jim Randall officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to Good Shepherd Care Center. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
