Marilyn R. Mauzey

Marilyn R. (Riddle) Mauzey was born June 1st, 1948, and passed away November 22nd, 2025, at the age of 77 in Osage Beach, Mo, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Scott, KS to Mary and Robert Riddle. She had one sister, Marsha Riddle. She attended high school in both Fort Scott and Independence KS, and she graduated from Butler Community College. Marilyn’s heart led her to help others, so she became an LPN at Winfield State Hospital and several nursing homes before she retired. Marilyn married Gene Mauzey on 10/9/10 in Winfield KS. Marilyn and Gene lived many years on a farm in Cedar Vale, KS before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks to retire. Marilyn enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, reading magazines including the Readers Digest, completing puzzles and crocheting. Marilyn was well known for her love of cats and dogs. But her dogs Dan and Ranger held a special place in her heart. Marilyn loved her family well by providing things like home cooked meals. She shared her love of reading with others in her life, especially Jason when he visited. She made sure to take her young stepchildren to see the many sights that Kansas had to offer like Big Brutus, Dorothy’s house and the Little House on the Prairie Museum. Every visit was an adventure even if it was simply to the park or visiting family. Marilyn was an amazing stepmother to her stepchildren. She was thoughtful and kind. Marilyn made sure each new family addition or wedding was celebrated with a crocheted personal blanket. She loved her family well and always remembered birthdays with a personal card. Marilyn loved writing letters and had long-term pen pals that she never met in person, but she shared her life with regularly. Marilyn lovingly cared for her parents as they aged. Marilyn loved her husband Gene and was thrilled to learn about cattle farming from him. She happily moved to the Ozark Mountains with him when he retired and lived out her days with Gene, her pets, books, neighbors and her flowers. Marilyn loved her adult stepchildren and grandchildren well. Marilyn lived a quiet life. She was a deep thinker and seemed very reserved until you got to know her. She had a servant’s heart and lived a life where all who knew her were loved by her service. She is survived by her husband Gene Mauzey, stepchildren: Crystal Johnston, Jared Weidner, Jason Weidner, Glora Rose and Samantha Montanez and 13 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Riddle, father Robert Riddle and her sister Marsha Riddle. She was known for her love of puzzles, cats, her dogs Dan and Ranger and for crocheting beautiful blankets. Per her wishes, Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie/Sunrise Beach
