Lyman A. Moore

Lyman A. Moore, age 66, of Versailles, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 8, 1957, in Versailles, son of the late Gordon D. and Louise (Chamberlain) Moore. Lyman always wanted his own money, so much so, he got his first job at age 9. He worked many years at Gerbes before becoming an entrepreneur. If there was a way to make money, he probably tried it. Some of his businesses included, Deals On Wheels, Lyman's Buffalo Burgers, cattle, gravel, numerous bars and restaurants, as well as a couple consignment auctions and even a car auction. Some people may have only known him by his, "Hi Folks this is Lyman" ads. Lyman always had advice whether you wanted it or not. He had a passion for buying and selling things. His family always joked that anything was for sale for the right price, even them. When he wasn't trying to make a buck, Lyman liked to fish, hunt, dance, cook, car racing, go to the casino, play poker with friends and even participated in a men’s softball league. Above all else, he loved being a grandpa. His grandchildren have many tales to tell about the time they spent with him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; daughters, Abbey Clark and husband Joel of Versailles, Jennifer Buckingham and husband Michael of Versailles and Heather Woolery and husband Jody of Sedalia; grandchildren, Keiley Owsley and husband Trenton, Joeley Clark, Gracen Clark and fiancé Sean Fergerson, Rhyker Clark, Madisen Buckingham and fiancé Seth Bowman, Aden Buckingham, Raegen Buckingham, Michael Buckingham, II, Alexis Woolery, Shelby Woolery and Nova Rymer; great-grandchildren, Adelynn Bowman, Arlo Bowman and Baby Boy Owsley due to be born in June; his siblings, Brenda Self and husband Chuck of Versailles, Karen Snelling of Springfield, Missouri, Teresa Roe and husband Roy of Jefferson City and Sheila Yoder Sutton and husband Matt of Bushnell, Florida; nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith Moore, brother, Kenneth Moore and brothers-in-law, Terry Yoder and Bobby Clines. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Danny Owsley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24th, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
