Kathy A. Meyer

Kathy A. Meyer, age 62, of Versailles, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 1, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born June 10, 1963, in Wadsworth, Ohio, a daughter of Clifford E. and Peggy Rose (Ellebruck) Chapman. On July 31, 1992, at the Versailles United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to her husband, Marvin Meyer. Kathy built her life around teaching. She taught in various local schools, the school for deaf and also internationally. She taught for forty years and was still teaching recently until she was no longer able due to her health. She had a special gift for sign language and generously shared that talent with others, teaching many people to communicate through signing over the years. Through this gift, she built meaningful connections and enriched the lives of many. Kathy enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her family. From day one, she and Marvin didn’t think they were able to have children and she accepted Marvin’s son, Robert as her own. By the grace of God, they were blessed with two more sons, Kyle and Kendall. Her faith and family were the foundation of her life. A devoted Christian, she faced numerous health challenges over two decades with remarkable strength, grace and a positive attitude. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and were the center of her world. Her kind heart, love for others and inspiring optimism touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, resilient spirit and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Kathy was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Meyer; sons, Robert Meyer and wife Deanna, Kyle Meyer and wife London and Kendall Meyer; grandchildren, Alexandra O’Bryan, Kellan Meyer, Peyton Meyer and Cameron Meyer; her mother, Peggy Chapman; brothers, Michael Hawk and wife Jennifer and David Chapman; sisters, Karen Rehm and husband Gerry and Shellie Chapman and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford E. Chapman. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, June 13th, at the Versailles United Methodist Church. A celebration of Kathy’s life will follow at 12:00 Noon, with Pastor Pati Robertson officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
