Julius "Hugh" M. White

Julius “Hugh” M. White, age 69, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born March 6, 1940, at home in Gilmore City, Iowa, the son of the late Lloyd and Freda Miller White. On October 23, 1960, in Lake City, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Joyce Beckman, who survives of the home. Hugh attended Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He worked for Shafer Fiberglass Company in Fort Dodge, Buffalo Center, and West Union, Iowa. He moved to Missouri in 1999, and he worked for Big Thunder Marina, and also with Bob Morgan and his off shore racing boat. He enjoyed working on cars and boats. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing. Hugh was baptized in the Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by two daughters, Julie Lansing and husband Neil of West Union, Iowa and Janel Baxter and husband Rob of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Everitt and husband Jason of Volga, Iowa, Jessica Sadler and husband Bob of West Union, Iowa, Niclas Lansing of Rowley, Iowa, Nilan Lansing of Waverly, Iowa, Nevin and Nashua Lansing both of West Union, Iowa, and Bobby and BreAnna Baxter both of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; one step-granddaughter, Jess Shannon Baxter of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; three brothers, Bernard Larson of the state of Texas, Richard Larson of Knierim, Iowa, and Bob White of Lehigh, Iowa; three sisters, LaVonne Keyser of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sharon Koppold of the state of Texas, and Karen Markley of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff White in 1981, his brother, Lloyd White, Jr., and his sister, Irene Green. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, at the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union Iowa. Interment will follow in the West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
