Judith Dyke

JUDITH DYKE Judith Kay (Cusick) Dyke, age 81, of Stover, Missouri, closely followed her husband, Joe, in death by passing away at home on March 5, 2024. Judith was born November 2, 1942, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, the daughter of Owen Richard and Lee Ellen (Gibson) Cusick. While being a homemaker for her family, she was a “Judith of all trades.” She enjoyed and finished many enterprises, then looked for the next exciting adventure in life. She worked at Quaker Oats in the chemistry lab, operated a sports concession stand, and was a school bus driver. In addition, she was a Youth Specialist and Project Leader for the 4-H. She was a licensed real estate agent, a U.S. census taker, and a small business owner. She operated an ice cream truck, owned a hay bailing and hauling venture, had a soda fountain shop, and raised sheep. In addition, she worked for various newspapers and publications in multiple roles, including as a freelance writer. Judith was an artist and a naturalist at heart. She shared these passions with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She deeply enjoyed family, storytelling, singing, dancing, painting, photography, sketching, camping, flowers, birds, and friendly conversation. She was, at one time, an active member of the Arts Association and the Lions Club; she even served as secretary to Stover’s Lions Club. She served as a family reporter and historian for her Evans family for four decades. She is continuing to make an impact with her last act of gifting her body to Medical Science through the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine. Survivors include children: Chad Dyke (Sherry) of Concordia, Missouri; Holly Cagle (Charles) of Stover, Missouri and Fara Dyke (Jason Marriott) of Stover, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda Reid, Sarah Rose Meloy and Kody Dyke; five great-grandchildren, Cynthia Wilson, Candace Newman, Alice Reid, Brayden Reid and Owen Reid; two great-great-grandchildren, Maximus Meloy and Maliki Dyke; sibling, Donna Lee Cusick and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; daughter, Jo Ellen Dyke; siblings, Lura Ann Mason and Thomas D. Cusick and her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Versailles, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church for an education scholarship fund in her husband, Joe’s name. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
