Hanrahan "Dot" Dorothy

Dorothy “Dot” Hanrahan, age 71, of Laurie, passed away Monday morning, December 27, 2004 at the Laurie Care Center. Dot was born Dorothy June Gardner on September 7, 1933 in Pettis County, Missouri, and was a graduate of Cole Camp High School. Dot was united in marriage with Gene Hanrahan in 1957, and the couple were longtime members of St. Patrick’s Church in Gravois Mills, and then the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Dot is survived by her husband Gene Hanrahan of the home; two sisters, Mary Woolery of Ionia, Missouri, and Geraldine Furth of Napa, California; five children, Lybbie Friedly of Cameron, Missouri, Rick Hanrahan of St. James, Missouri, Lynda Middeke of St. Charles, Missouri, Lucy Argo of Sedalia, Missouri, and Leah Ross of the Azore Islands, 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Dot was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Elizabeth Gardner, one brother Walt, one sister Susie, and one son Paul Gene. Dot enjoyed life and her family immensely, and her family is comforted at this time of great loss by her devout faith in God, and by the promise that she now enjoys everlasting life. When remembering Dot, her family fondly considers Proverbs chapter 31, verses 10 through 31. Dot was also well known in the area as The Avon Lady, and could often be seen making deliveries to her many customers. She had a knack for helping women find the right makeup for their individual use, and always had a current catalog in her purse. Dot also enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus Lady’s Auxiliary. Dot’s family asks that those wishing to make a gift in memoriam do so to the American Cancer Society, and would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of those who have provided support and prayers during her final struggle. There are far too many to list, however Dot wanted each of you to know that she loved you. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 31, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
