Gordon D. Moore

Gordon D. Moore, age 77, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, in Gravois Mills. He was born May 8, 1930, in Carver, Missouri, the son of Keith and Eula Calfee Moore. On May 25, 1948, he was united in marriage with Louise Chamberlain who preceded him in death on August 23, 1994. Gordon worked as a truck driver, a real estate broker, and most recently, he farmed and hauled gravel. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, camping, hunting, outdoors and nature, metal detecting, and fishing. He was known as the “Missouri Drifter”, and took great pride in being a native of Gravois Mills. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. One of his favorite quotes is “One of the greatest gifts on earth is to love and have been loved”. He lived his life according to his favorite quote. He is survived by two sons, Lyman Moore and wife Helen and Kenneth Moore both of Gravois Mills; four daughters, Brenda Self and husband Chuck of Versailles, Karen Snelling of Springfield, Teresa Roe and husband Roy of Jefferson City, and Sheila Yoder and husband Terry of Versailles; his special friend, Helen Dixon of Eldon; three brothers, Dale Marriott, Danny Marriott, and Brad Marriott all of Excelsior Springs; two sisters, Claudene Moore Parman and Fern Marriott Miller both of Excelsior Springs; fifteen grandchildren, Melinda Klein, Kali Kliethermes, Kaysi Snelling, Katie Lewis, Michelle Lutz, Tanner Moore, Abbey Clark, Jennifer Buckingham, Heather Woolery, Jeffery Fields, Olivia Fields, Emily Yoder, Justin Yoder, Cory Yoder, and Becca Yoder; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Keith and Gertie Moore; his mother Eula Marriott; two grandchildren, Brandon Daniels and Keith Moore; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Brandon Marriott. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Dr. Todd Forman officiating. Interment will be held in the Versailles Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Terry Kliethermes, Chuck Self, Tanner Moore, Joel Clark, Roy Roe, and Terry Yoder. Honorary Casketbearers are Brandon Daniels and Keith Moore. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
