Gail Mims Jr.

Gail Mims, Jr., age 45, of Versailles, passed away September 16, 2025, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born December 29, 1979, in Sedalia, a son of Gail, Sr. and Pam (Bennett) Mims. On October 3, 2002, in Eldon, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Michelle (Nowack) Mims. Jr. was currently a mechanic for Garber Motors in Versailles and previously worked for Clark’s Tire and Menning Tire. A skilled mechanic and true craftsman, he spent countless hours under the hood of a car, often with his sons by his side teaching them his skills. He had a passion for mechanics and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, never too busy to help fix a car, offer advice or share a laugh. A lifelong Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR fan, Jr. never missed a race or a game. But nothing brought him more joy than watching his and his wife’s children grow and thrive. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines, coaching their sporting events or taking them fishing on a quiet weekend, he cherished every moment with his wife and children. Music filled his days and faith guided his heart. Jr. loved God and sought his guidance throughout life. His faith was a quiet strength that carried him through every challenge. He will be remembered as the hardest working man, a loving and devoted father to his six children, husband, loyal friend and a man whose hands built not just engines, but a life full of meaning. Known for his unmatched work ethic and generous spirit, he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and service to others. In addition to his wife, Michelle, he is survived by his children, Meagan Reynolds (Kevin), Zylithe Baker, Zaiybian Christeson, Keenan Mims, KeAnna Mims and KynLeigh Mims; grandchildren, Ashton Reynolds and Sebastian Reynolds; mother-in-law, Katherine Carpenter; his father, Gail Mims, Sr.; mother, Pam Egan; brothers, Randall Russell, Justin Mims and Eric Chick; sister, Nicole Courville and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bob Nowack, sister, Janet Mims Brown, grandmother, Janet Kammerich and aunt, Carla Bennett. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 24th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor J.D. Montgomery officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Eldon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home to assist the family. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
