Dorothy M. Boring

Dorothy Magdalene (Duvall) Boring, age 90, of Camdenton, passed away Wednesday March 11, 2026, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. She was born May 21, 1935, in Galesburg, Kansas. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Jimmie L. Boring, who has likely spent the last few years hunting, fishing, and resting up in preparation for her arrival. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jimbo Boring; her parents, Oliver and Bertha Duvall; and her siblings Paul, MaryAnn, Carl, Oliver, Christena, Martin, and Ruth. A Life Lived "All-In" At an age when most people are content with a rocking chair, Dorothy was usually found halfway across the USA on a bus tour. For the last 8 years, she shared these adventures with her late life partner, Bob Fairchild, likely teaching the drivers "shortcuts" and befriending every passenger on the manifest by the first rest stop. Together, they viewed the American highway system as their personal social club, proving you’re never too old for a cross-country road trip or a gift shop spree. A legendary fixture at the Elks Lodge, Dorothy was the undisputed Queen of the socializing scene. Whether she was dancing with more rhythm than people half her age or cleaning out her friends at Texas Hold ’em, she did it with a mischievous glint in her eye. She was also a dedicated swimmer for exercise—mostly so she could stay fit enough to out-dance everyone else—and a lover of books and feeding wildlife especially hummingbirds, though she was usually moving faster than they were. Matriarch, Crafter, and Career Woman Dorothy balanced her zest for life with a long and dedicated career at Wilcox Electric Inc./Northrup Corporation in Kansas City, MO. While she excelled in the professional world, her real magic happened in the kitchen, with a crochet hook and with her green thumb. She was a wonderful cook famous for her handcrafted noodles, fried fish, comfort dishes, baked goods, holiday treats, and the legendary annual fish fry and fireworks—an event anticipated by everyone in her circle. Dorothy lived for a house full of company and absolutely loved having overnight guests. Her home was the ultimate hub for lake life activities and hunting, where she ensured every visitor was well-fed and entertained (you may have even followed through on a subtle hint from her to assist with keeping wood stockpiled for the warm fireplace). She was also a crocheter, and her useful items were deeply appreciated by our veterans. Her Legacy As a great-great-grandmother, she was the matriarch of a five-generation empire. She is survived by: Brother: Bob Duvall (wife Judy, Kearney, MO). Daughters: Linda McCay (Blue Springs, MO) and Sandy Frakes, along with favorite son-in-law James Frakes (Riverside, MO). Grandchildren: James Worley (wife Jennifer Nugent) and Stephen Worley (wife Ana and sons), JR Frakes, and Cathi Aldrich (husband Brian), Great-Grandchildren: Miranda Worley, Danielle Caldwell (husband Dustin) and Jay and Jaxon Frakes. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Rhett, Stetson, Callahan, and Enora Caldwell. The Rest of the gym Mob: Countless nieces, nephews, and friends who probably still have some of her leftovers in their freezers. It’s what she would have wanted—helping the neighbors and finding a good bargain. Celebration Luncheon Following the service, we will proceed to the burial (just a short walk away). Once the "serious" part is over, a celebration of her nine decades of social butterflying will follow at the Greenview Missouri Elks Lodge #2857, located at 1460 N State Highway 7, Camdenton, MO. Covered dish appreciated (optional). Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Garber Memorial Estates in Laurie at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
