Betty Lou Snitker

Betty Lou Snitker, age 83, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 13, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of the late John Francis “Bud” and Amelia “Emma” (Williams) Mourning. On October 3, 1964, at the Grandview Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Roy William Snitker, who preceded her in death on October 17, 2022. Betty worked at Southwestern Bell in collections management until her retirement after many years. She was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, the Newcomer’s Club, CFW and found great joy in serving others through her volunteer work at the Westside Senior Center. Her favorite tradition was ringing the Salvation Army bell each year on her birthday, a reflection of her generous spirit and servant’s heart. Above all, she cherished her family. She never missed an important milestone and was always there to offer encouragement, support and unconditional love. Her devotion to those she loved was evident in everything she did, and the memories she created with her family will be treasured forever. She is survived by her children, Stephen Snitker (Linda), Roy William Snitker, Jr. (Betty), Richard Snitker (Barbara) and Kim Michelle Snitker (Kyle); grandchildren, Aimee Lusty (Mike), Alysson Schmitt (Mike), Jason Snitker (Vanessa), Ben Snitker (Tara) and Zoah Chavarillo (James); great-grandchildren, Bethanie Manzanares, Josh Adams, Nic Snitker, Abi Schmitt, Eyan Schmitt, Alyssa Snitker, Daphne Snitker, Diana Chavarillo and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Cora Jean Bradshaw, Margaret Ann Dale, Francis Sue Richards and twin sister Mary Lou Amold and her daughter-in-law, Karen Snitker. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20th, at the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie with Pastor Tim Schomp officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Entombment will be held at a later date in the columbarium at Garber Memorial Estates in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to the West Lake Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
