William L. Blomberg

William “Bill” “Banjo” L. Blomberg, 70, passed away at his home on April 14, 2021 after a short illness. Bill was born on January 29, 1951 in Salina, Kansas a son of the late Vernal and Eleanor, step-mother, Mary Lou, and step-mother, Verna Blomberg. He was a graduate of Lindsborg High School and Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in social work and sociology. Bill lived a life dedicated to serving others as he worked in Social Security and managed Social Security branches throughout the Midwest and finally was an Area Director out of Kansas City. Bill was well-loved and respected by his colleagues. Bill loved his family very deeply, especially the love of his life, Wendy. They enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage. Bill was exceptionally proud of his two sons, Eric and Scott and the men they have become. He took great joy and pride in loving his five grandchildren through the time he spent with them at the lake, at their homes, and at special events and sporting events both in person and virtually. Bill made sure each of his grandchildren felt like they were his favorite. He loved telling them jokes to make them laugh, playing games with them, and he always had a story for them. Bill remained in close contact with all of his six brothers and sisters and is very loved by each of them. Bill also loved playing golf, attending Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, singing karaoke, watching Jeopardy, playing cards, eating at Vinny’s, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: wife Wendy (Burkard) Blomberg of Laurie, Missouri; sons, LCDR Eric (Jennifer) Blomberg of Chesapeake, Virginia and Scott (Lara) Blomberg of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Ally and Ava Blomberg and Will, Noah, and Hannah Blomberg; siblings, James (Christy) Blomberg of Kansas City, Mary Shaffer of Salina, Kansas, Dennis (Lynette) Blomberg of Lindsborg, Kansas, Morrie (Sydney) Soderberg of Salina, Kansas, Mark (Ann) Soderberg of New Braunfels, Texas, and Janelle Blomberg Brandt of Kansas City as well as many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2021 at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, Sunrise Beach, Missouri. Lunch will follow the service at the church. Visitation with the family is planned from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to Kent Memorial Lutheran Church.
