Kinnaman, Benjamin Leo




Benjamin Leo Kinnaman was born May 8, 1929 in Lee’s Summit, MO to Ruth and Leo Kinnaman. On January 21, 1949, he married Teddy Schulze; they celebrated their 60th anniversary with a cruise to Alaska this past summer. Ben was stationed in Germany during the time of the Korean conflict. After discharge, Ben and Teddy settled in the Kansas City area. Ben began a lifelong career with Southwestern Bell where he was also active with the Telephone Pioneers. Retirement took him to the Lake of the Ozarks, Sunrise Beach. He remained active with specific organizations, giving time to the American Legion Post #624, West Lake Christian Church and Shawnee Bend Neighborhood Association. Also Ben gave of himself to help others with his skilled hands: building, repairing and improving grounds and structures. Ben is survived by his wife, Teddy; son Mark and daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren Jennifer, Carrie and Ben and Jennifer’s husband David Brogan; his brother Bob Kinnaman and sister-in-law Darlene; as well as sister Vera Ohdem and brother-in-law Richard. Others of importance in his life include his nephews Bob and Tim Neds, Don, Mike, and Jeff Kincaid, and Ben’s beloved dogs. There were many others involved in his life who always remained dear to him. Visitation and services will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the West Lake Christian Church, 936 Hwy O, Laurie, MO, 65037. Visitation will be at 9:30am, service at 10:30. Graveside service will be at 4:30pm at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Pallbearers are Bob Neds, Tim Neds, Mike Kincaid, Jeff Kincaid, David Brogan, Roy Snitker, Ben Kinnaman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the West Lake Christian Church for a stained glass window (see address above) or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
