Grebe, Carrie Louise




Carrie Louise Grebe, age 89, of Versailles, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at her home. She was born June 28, 1920, in Dora, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert D. and Nora A. Bell Thornton. On December 24, 1936, in Rockport, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Cleo A. Cook. Together they had four children. She later married William Henry Grebe on August 30, 1956, in Sedalia, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1982. Carrie loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed watching birds and loved life. She was a member of the West Union Baptist Church in Versailles. She is survived by two sons, James “Jim” Cook and wife Dorothy and Cecil “Bud” Cook and wife Daisy; one daughter, Nancy “Sis” Cable; daughter-in-law, Karolyn Cook; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Nora Jean Erdman; two half-sisters, Sharon Patton and Donna Deweiss; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert “Bob” Cook; her son-in-law, Sam Cable; four grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will follow in the Stover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
