Akin, Wanda L.




Wanda L. Akin, age 80, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at home with her family. She was born on January 5, 1930 in Russellville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Charles Ira and Zona West Wiser. On April 24, 1948, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, she was married to Dwight Akin, who survives of the home. Wanda attended school in Enon, Missouri, and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Cosby, Missouri. She worked for many years for International Shoe Company in Tipton, Missouri. She enjoyed quilting and gardening, but her special joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by one daughter, Marla Rohrbach and husband Allan of Green Ridge, Missouri; one son, Kenneth Akin of Cameron, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Gwen Akin; eight grandchildren, Andrew Akin, Patrick Akin, Nicole Akin, Zachary Akin, Mark Akin, Callie Kotschwar and husband, Wade, Jacob Akin, and David Rohrbach; two step-grandchildren, Sandra Moore and Michael Barnett; great grandson, Cole Akin; step-great-grandchildren, Devin Moore and Zachary Moore; one sister, Dell Brizendine; and a niece, Shirley Meeks-Terry. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Akin; a grandson, Stephen Akin; five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 29, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will follow in the Akinsville Cemetery with Patrick Akin, Zachary Akin, Mark Akin, Jacob Akin, Wade Kotschwar, and Allan Rohrbach serving as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Nicole Akin, Callie Kotschwar, Andrew Akin, and David Rohrbach. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to Noon, Friday, at the funeral home.
