Back to Obituaries Sign the Guestbook Gatewood, Francis "Monty" Francis “Monty” Gatewood, age 69, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born August 20, 1940, in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of the late James Earl and Ruby Pearl Wheatley Gatewood. On April 22, 1967, in Independence, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Connell, who survives of the home. Monty was a mechanic for Arrow Fork Lift in Kansas City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunrise Beach and was a United States Army veteran. He was the commander of the Sons of the American Legion Post #624, a member of the VFW Post #5923, and the American Legion Zack Wheat Post #624. In addition to his wife, Monty is survived by one sister Charlene Picker of O’Fallon, Missouri; three dogs Tazz, Bitsey, and Bella; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, January 6, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Interment will follow in the Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery.
